Translated complex federal policy into a clear, durable implementation guide, reducing risk, confusion, and uncertainty for national mental health providers.
The Challenge
Passage of H.R. 1 in 2025 created a great deal of risk and urgency for member organizations of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. They were concerned about what changes would be coming when and what steps they would need to take. Our Policy Team wanted a document that would cover all the bases, explaining a very confusing topic in very clear terms.
The Solution
I translated policy into an operational tool, adapting a Policy Team PowerPoint presentation into a 24-page, full-color document that was designed to not just advise, but to adapt and change as the situation warranted.
I managed the process end to end—working with the Editorial Team to ensure clarity, accuracy, and style compliance, and guiding multiple design iterations to achieve the right look and feel. This involved working with stakeholders throughout the organization.
The Results
The final product provided National Council members with a clear, practical roadmap for understanding and responding to policy changes initiated by H.R. 1. Written in accessible language and structured for long-term use, the guide reduced confusion, supported planning and compliance efforts, and established a foundation for ongoing member education as implementation continued.
